Tell me what is your favorite word RIGHT NOW? Why is it your faovorite word and how often do you use it?

 Prompt Response: My favorite word right now is one that we learned in class today, lugubrious. I had never heard it before but think that it sounds kind of silly and is fun to say. I hope to incorporate the word lugubrious into my vernacular. Whenever something is sad or not going my way I will remark on how lugubrious it is and everyone will be impressed with my vocabulary. Up until today I was never using the word lugubrious but now I will use it frequently.

Summary: Today in class we went over our poetry explications and made a comic strip with vocabulary words.

Reflection: I got better poetry analysis skills and a stronger vocabulary.

Prompt Response:  A time in my life where something I believed in turned out to be different than I imagined was when I found out that Santa wasn't real. I never fully bought into the idea that one man could deliver presents to the entire world in just one night, and my parents didn't try all that hard to convince me of it, but I still remember feeling very conflicted on the topic. I would go back and forth, and at times believe wholeheartedly that Santa existed. However, I would still debate with my mom and try to convince her to admit that she was the one putting presents under the tree, and eventually she broke and told me Santa was just a made up character to make Christmas feel more magical for kids. I definitely wasn't that surprised or upset, but it helped me feel more grown up to know the truth and reminded me to trust my instincts when I know I'm being deceived.  Summary: Today in class we read letters 71 - 75 and wrote a found poem. In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

Prompt Response:  A time when something has been both positive and a challenge was when I took AP Calculus. I felt proud being one of a few juniors in a senior class and I found a lot of satisfaction in the content. However, I also felt a lot of pressure to prove myself. I was simultaneously excited to be in the class and fearful that my teacher would think I didn't deserve to be. This shows how an experience can be both exciting and nerve wracking depending on how you look at the situation. Summary: Today in class we read the poems "The Lamb" and "The Tyger" and started working on our one pagers. Reflection:  I got better poetry analysis skills and practice putting information into a one page format.

Write about something that you wish you had more of.

Prompt Response:  One thing I wish I had more of is time. I wish there was more time in the day to be able to balance my school work with my hobbies and passions. I always find myself listing off things I wish I could do more often like reading, sewing, drawing, hanging out with friends, cooking, baking, and spending time with family. When I do have free time, I'm so exhausted from school and day to day life that all I want to do is sit around and do nothing. And when I do have the energy, I overwhelm myself by multitasking, like eating lunch while drawing while listening to an audio book. I wish I had more time to fit all of these activities into my day while being able to give each the time and care they deserve. Summary: Today in class we finished working on our identity poems and posters. Reflection: I practiced my poetry writing and graphic design skills by working on my poster.
