In 2–3 well-developed sentences, reflect on how you spent your Holiday Break. Then, identify four personal you would like to achieve this year and briefly explain why each goal is important to you (Copy and paste your completed response from Writable into your blog).

Prompt Response: Over the break, I spent a lot of time with my family celebrating the holidays. I ate at a Chinese Restaurant with my grandma and my cousins, and also went to my other grandma's house on Christmas Eve. The day after Christmas, my family, myself, and one of my close friends went to Cumberland Island and backpacked to our campsite where we stayed for two nights. The hike in and out was 3.5 miles and we went on a 7 mile day hike for our full day. It was very fun to see the wildlife and spend time outdoors.

Summary: Today in class we wrote four personal SMART goals for the new year.

Reflection: I got better skills reflecting and creating specific goals.

My four goals:

1. The first goal I want to achieve this year is to get into Georgia TechThis goal is important because Tech is my dream school and can give me the education and opportunities I need to pursue engineering as a career. I was deferred from the early action round of Georgia Tech admissions, so my application is already complete, but to accomplish this goal, I need to fill out the deferred supplemental form to provide updates to my resume. I also need to contact my counselor and ask her to send my first semester transcript. In addition, I need to achieve good grades in my second semester. By March of this year, I will know if I have gotten in, and if not, I will extend this goal and transfer to Tech for my second year of college.

2. The second goal I want to achieve this year is to pass all my AP exams. This goal is important because it can get me college credit to exempt certain courses in college, so I won't have to spend time and money taking classes I've already taken. To achieve this goal, I will concentrate on learning the new material second semester, as well as devising a specific review calendar for AP Biology, AP Microeconomics and AP Calculus BC as the exams in May get closer. I will check my scores in early July to see if I passed with a 4 or a 5 and find out which college courses I'll be able to exempt.

3. The third goal I want to achieve this year is to get a job. This goal is important because I want to get work experience and start saving money for when I'm in college and for the future. I will accomplish this goal by researching businesses in my area that are currently hiring and filling out online applications, and inquiring in person. I will practice improving my interview skills for any potential interviews. By the end of May, I hope to have a job secured for me to work during the summer.

4. The fourth goal I want to achieve this year is to do a pullup. This goal is important because I think it is crucial that you can lift your own body weight because you never know what situation you might be in where lifting yourself up could save your life. I will accomplish this goal by practicing doing pullups daily in my weight-training class. I will start out using resistance bands until I can do 10 assisted pullups, and then I will begin training to do an unassisted pullup. I hope to have accomplished this goal by the end of the school year in May.

In "The Lamb" and "The Tyger", both poems suggest that beauty and danger can come from the same source. Describe a time when something or someone you admired also scared or challenged you. How did that experience change the way you see the world or the idea of “goodness”?

Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?
