Prompt Response: I discovered from comments on my poster and on my peer's posters that the visual creativity and design can influence a person's opinion and understanding of your ideas. If your poster is well organized and visually compelling, a person is going to want to look at it and read it more. I have learned that people really enjoy a lot of colors and a lot of pictures. The feedback influenced the way I think about my creative choices because it shows me that powerful writing isn't the only part of an effective poster and that the creativity and appearance also matters.

Reflection: I got better practice receiving and giving feedback.

Prompt Response:  A time when something has been both positive and a challenge was when I took AP Calculus. I felt proud being one of a few juniors in a senior class and I found a lot of satisfaction in the content. However, I also felt a lot of pressure to prove myself. I was simultaneously excited to be in the class and fearful that my teacher would think I didn't deserve to be. This shows how an experience can be both exciting and nerve wracking depending on how you look at the situation. Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Prompt Response:  Something I've done that was out of the norm was attending the Globe Academy from kindergarten to 8th grade. At Globe, I was in the immersion program and learned Spanish, as well as learning math and science in the language. When I got to high school, I would say that I felt embarrassed to have gone to a charter school instead of a public school like everyone else. I think others judged me for being nerdy and privileged. I was the one of only a few freshman in the AP Spanish test, and I had already gotten a 5 on the exam, so my experience at Globe definitely put me ahead of my peers. Summary: Today in class we took notes on a poem by Emily Dickinson and analyzed it. Reflection:  I practiced note-taking skills, poetry analysis, and discussions. Describe a time you couldn’t stop laughing.

Prompt Response:  A time when I couldn't stop laughing was when me and my boyfriend were on the way back from our trip to the beach and we were watching a movie in the car. In the movie, the main character was struggling to swim in the ocean and I don't know why I did it but I accidentally spit on myself. I was already very tired, and watching her swimming made me think I was swimming myself, and so I spit out the imaginary ocean water. My boyfriend thought it was the funniest thing in the world and couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes. I couldn't help but laugh as well, even though it was pretty embarrassing. Summary: Today in class we completed and submitted our One Pagers on a poem comparison. Reflection:  I got better skills putting my ideas into a format with visuals that can fit on a single page.
