As we move toward the end of the semester, what are your top three college choices right now? Identify the colleges and explain why you are attracted to each one. Even if college is not currently on your radar, you must still respond to the question and explain your thinking.

Prompt Response: As of right now, I have been accepted to several colleges and I am choosing between University of Georgia and Georgia Tech. These are definitely my top two, but if I had to choose a third it would be Kennesaw State University. I am drawn to the University of Georgia because I was accepted to the Honors College which comes with perks like special dorms and access to class selection. I also really like the campus and it probably wouldn't be as rigorous and stressful as Georgia Tech. It also has so many different majors and minors to choose from so it would be very flexible to find what I want to study. I am drawn to Tech because of it's prestige and top quality engineering programs. I also like that it is close to home. However, I was admitted for their Summer semester program, so I would have to start classes in June if I wanted to attend. Finally, I am drawn to Kennesaw as a less rigorous option that still has high quality education and engineering programs.

Summary: Today in class we started collecting evidence for our essays.

Reflection: I got practice finding credible evidence that supports a claim.

Prompt Response:  A time when something has been both positive and a challenge was when I took AP Calculus. I felt proud being one of a few juniors in a senior class and I found a lot of satisfaction in the content. However, I also felt a lot of pressure to prove myself. I was simultaneously excited to be in the class and fearful that my teacher would think I didn't deserve to be. This shows how an experience can be both exciting and nerve wracking depending on how you look at the situation. Summary: Today in class we read the poems "The Lamb" and "The Tyger" and started working on our one pagers. Reflection:  I got better poetry analysis skills and practice putting information into a one page format.

Write about a time when you did something out of the norm. What was it and how did others react?

Prompt Response:  Something I've done that was out of the norm was attending the Globe Academy from kindergarten to 8th grade. At Globe, I was in the immersion program and learned Spanish, as well as learning math and science in the language. When I got to high school, I would say that I felt embarrassed to have gone to a charter school instead of a public school like everyone else. I think others judged me for being nerdy and privileged. I was the one of only a few freshman in the AP Spanish test, and I had already gotten a 5 on the exam, so my experience at Globe definitely put me ahead of my peers. Summary: Today in class we took notes on a poem by Emily Dickinson and analyzed it. Reflection:  I practiced note-taking skills, poetry analysis, and discussions. Describe a time you couldn’t stop laughing.

Prompt Response:  A time when I couldn't stop laughing was when me and my boyfriend were on the way back from our trip to the beach and we were watching a movie in the car. In the movie, the main character was struggling to swim in the ocean and I don't know why I did it but I accidentally spit on myself. I was already very tired, and watching her swimming made me think I was swimming myself, and so I spit out the imaginary ocean water. My boyfriend thought it was the funniest thing in the world and couldn't stop laughing for about 10 minutes. I couldn't help but laugh as well, even though it was pretty embarrassing. Summary: Today in class we completed and submitted our One Pagers on a poem comparison. Reflection:  I got better skills putting my ideas into a format with visuals that can fit on a single page.
