As we approach the end of the course, reflect on the texts, discussions, and concepts explored in Multicultural Literature. What is one significant lesson about culture or identity that has stood out to you? Explain why this lesson is meaningful and analyze how it connects to your own experiences or perspective.

Prompt Response: Throughout Multicultural Literature, we have read several texts over a diverse range of topics and cultures, which exposed us to diverse perspectives and prompted us to confront our own cultural identity. One lesson about cultural identity that stood out to me is that everyone has a culture, even if it isn't obvious at first. At the beginning of the course, I struggled with pinpointing my culture because I didn't feel connected to any one in particular, being a white American. However, this class taught me that I still have a culture, even if I don't necessarily connect with my ancestors or their nationality. Culture is made up of nationality, beliefs, family traditions, foods, the community and values you grew up with and much more. This lesson is meaningful because it taught me to connect with my culture and be honest with myself about what really makes me who I am.
