Think about the most stereotypical film you have ever seen. This could be a movie that represents a specific culture, race, gender, or group in an oversimplified or unrealistic way. In your response, explain what film you are referring to, what stereotypes were present in the film, and how those stereotypes shaped your understanding of that group at the time

Prompt: The movie Mean Girls depicts many stereotypes of females and high school students in general. It depicted groups of students like jocks, nerds, mean girls, band geeks, musical theater nerds and many more. It also depicted female students as highly competitive and evil towards one another. This definitely shaped my understanding of high school life was going to be when I was younger. I thought there were going to be way more bullies and cliques, but really it’s a lot more mellow and no one really cares what group you’re a part of.

Summary: Today in class we did a writable about stereotypes in film.

Reflection: I got a better understanding of how stereotypes in film and literature effect society.
